- Curved pencils have the core made from flexible graphite and pressed wood.
- John Steinbeck (author of The Grapes of Wrapth - got Pulitzer prize in1940) had used 60 pencils a day to write his novel.
- The longest pencil is 323,51m. The pencil was made by Edward Douglas Miller – a Bristish. Nowadays, the pencil still keeps the Guinness record as the longest one in the world record.
- Emilo Arenas – a Uruguayan is the one who has the biggest pencil collection in the world. He has 16.260 pencils collected from all around the world and he keeps the Guinness record about it.
- The oldest pencil is preserved, made in 17th century. The pencil has been found on a old German house roof.
- The coal used to make pencil actually does not contain any blacklead, just coal and clay.
- The most expensive pencil is limited edition from Graf von Faber Castell. The pencil was made from Olive 240 years old and sticked 18 cara platinum. Its price is $12800
