No matter what to sell, Sales is always a hard job. You mostly have to spend time out of the office even it’s raining or shining. Sometimes, you have to ride more than 30km just to get a 5 minute meeting, give your customer a catalogue and make them impressed. If you can reach the KPI at the end of month, it will be perfect. If not, you will experience the moved-to-tear feeling when you sigh a contract in your dream during a short nap. 

That would be hard, but also interesting. Every story about the job can be small but it’s meaningful enough. 

First, you naturally become a shopping adviser. Anytime your family or friends want to buy something, the first one they think about is you. They will call to ask with a complete belief that “you sell then you know”. 

Secondly, you will be responsible for buying everything in your house, no matter you are a lady or gentleman. The irrefutable mission comes from the habit of reading and understanding information on products package to counsel. It also includes the ability of differentiating real and fake ones, remembering and updating Sale-off events. 

Finally, you will definitely make your beloved ones surprised with unique meaningful gifts, especially, when you are a Gift Sales Executive like my friends at Saxa. They have bunch of advice that fit every occasion with a “WHY” for each gift, so people always feel touching when received. 

There must be sometimes you ask yourself if your work means something. 

It is absolutely awesome if you are making the global weather cleaner and clearer or saving a congenital heart disease child. But it’s ok if you are not. Because the meaning of your job lies on every small thing you are doing. It could be when you help your colleague fix her computer, when you voluntary are an interpreter and help your company win a big contract, or maybe, when you organize a small charity event for staff of your company to do together. 

You know what, those “small” things could bring bigger meaning and happier feeling to everyone around you. Maybe they just do not tell you.
