Let us tell you the reason why Saxa exists. When a company is established, we believe that it must have a big and right enough reason. Saxa is a Gift company, we have started it since 2010 and also asked ourselves, what the reason was and what Saxa would do for customers?
We decide that Saxa will have to be a company knows how to bring happiness to customers. So, together we are building the company’s strong and kind culture values to first make every Saxa people happy. A company which is happy enough will have enough power to create happy projects for customers. Specifically, Saxa’s Studio non-profit project, free entry, named Story at Saxa. (Saxagifts.com) - I am Erick, Design Team Leader of Saxa. Now, while I am writing this, I am remembering about the early days when I first joined Saxa with a lesson that I have never learnt from any school.
My main task, also my strength is designing brand for company. However, I had to receive another piece of job which was designing gift product maquette for customers. Honestly, I was not really keen on it at that time. Whenever I received a brand or a marketing design requirement, I felt so excited and I always spent more time on those products. So, you can easily guess how I felt when I received the maquette design requirements from Sales executives. I only spent a bit time at the end of day and did some very simple steps. I still remember once I was so frustrated with setting up a calendar layout to print on customers’ notebooks. It took me so long to fix again and again. I released my stress out by naming the file “Disgusting Notebook” and felt so pleasure about it. Right a few minutes after this, the Sales Leader called me to come over:
- Why are you so childish? Do you know when you named like this, if I did not double check before sending to the customer and if he read it, how bad he would think about our company? How would Sales Team work with him since then? How much loss would we make? Do you even think about it?
“Ashamed” and “Regret” were the two emotions that I was feeling right at the moment. I have ever thought that my simple silly action could lead to serious damages.
The days after this, I started naming files more carefully and systematically. But clearly, it was just a way to act against, my feeling towards the job did not change.
Then one day, Mimi opened the door and jumped into the room with a happy news:
- I just met a company with huge demand and potential.
Suddenly, she stopped for 5 seconds, looked at me then looked at the Leader again, continued:
- But they required more creative and unique product design.
I understood that during the 5 seconds, Mimi has wondered if I could make the products with all my devotion and convincing enough for the customer.
What made her have that “contempt” to me?
I felt bit shy and still received the requirement for that product design. Do you know, the event has completely changed my mind about my job, helped me discover the secret of happiness in the work that I have been misunderstanding so far?
