First time to be a Culture Leader

First time to be a Culture Leader

I have just finished my first time ever to be a Culture Leader of company. That must be the most emotional month since I joined Saxa.
For six months I’ve been working here, I have experienced many cultural activities that were organized by my sisters and brothers at Saxa. But I have ever imaged how I look if I become the one. Then suddenly, my boss called me with two other new members to come to her room and gave us the responsibility. I was so surprised:

- Wow... I thought only former staff with full of experience could do that. Moreover, Bu and I were much younger and new.

- A leader does not need that much experience but importantly, your care. That’s your choice to build up the connection and fellowship in your own way.

Even though I was not confident at all, I would like to test my ability, I raised my hand to volunteer for that responsibility in October. Right then till the next leader of next month, I was fully paid for my recklessness.

When being at the normal position like everyone else, I just enjoyed and waited for surprise from teammates at weekend meetings. But when being a culture leader, I was nervous every second. From feeling the atmosphere around and listening to teammates’ stories, I always felt like I have not fully been responsible for the duty, wondered if everyone got my messages, if my preparation was good enough or if I missed anything.

I cannot forget the memory at Jasmine’s birthday party, when everyone arrived on time and was waiting, she was not showed up yet. Or on October 20th, I learnt to make a video to thank our company gentlemen, or prepared in hurry a dinner for my teammates after their business trip from Middle East, and even the tears when saying “I’m sorry because…” at a meeting. At the end, I was completely moving when seeing everyone was so happy through those activities. If I was not a culture leader, I would not have that feeling. It's worth every second.

I used to think being a culture leader is quite simple if just organizing some activities for fun. But to keep the team spirit, this is an important duty that the leader to have take care of. And I realize, the glue to stick staff with company, to make them love and protect each other like a family, is the emotion from sweating together, smiling together and crying together. Nobody but the culture leader will know how to make that glue. The experience is worthy for everybody to try.

P.s: Surprising welcome dinner from leader Jenny for other members from their business trip.
